MoriX Conducts Fingerprint-Authenticated IC Card Pilot Test at Narita International Airport

October 2025
MoriX Co., Ltd.

MoriX Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Morihiko Kubota) conducted a pilot test in collaboration with Narita International Airport Corporation (Head Office: Narita City, Chiba; President & CEO: Naoki Fujii) using fingerprint-authenticated IC cards developed by MoriX.

Overview of the Pilot Test
The purpose of this test was to evaluate the effectiveness and operability of fingerprint-authenticated IC cards as a means of personal identification for access control within airport facilities.
The IC card used in this test functions entirely offline — authentication is completed within the card itself using securely stored fingerprint data, without relying on any cloud service or external server.
This enables a high-security and user-friendly authentication process even in environments where network connectivity is limited.
Test Period: July 23, 2025 – August 6, 2025
Location: Staff areas within Narita International Airport
Objective: To evaluate the convenience, security, and operational feasibility of biometric authentication in airport operations

Key Evaluation Points
• Ease of fingerprint registration
• Authentication speed and success rate
• User experience (UX) and operability during access procedures
• Security risk assessment during operational use

Future Outlook
Based on the feedback obtained through this pilot, MoriX will further improve its products and optimize system integration for practical deployment in environments that require a high level of security, such as airports, government institutions, healthcare facilities, and financial organizations.
This technology — which enables biometric authentication to be completed entirely on the IC card — is drawing attention as a key enabler for passwordless authentication and as a strong option within zero-trust security frameworks.
MoriX will continue working with domestic and international partners to contribute to enhanced safety and security across society.
