MoriX Co., Ltd.
MoriX to start a demonstration test at "Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa" for contactless IC cards with fingerprint authentication
MoriX Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Morihiko Kubota, hereinafter "MoriX") has started a demonstration test of contactless IC cards with fingerprint authentication at Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa, an urban aquarium, for the management of staff access.
Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa (4-10-30 Takanawa, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Shinagawa Prince Hotel) is an urban aquarium that exhibits 20,000 living creatures of about 350 species, located in the heart of the city, about a two-minute walk from Shinagawa Station. The aquarium is dedicated to conveying the appeal of living things through a variety of entertainment, including seasonal event programs.
MoriX believes that the use of contactless IC cards with fingerprint authentication in this demonstration test will help prevent unauthorized use by third parties and also help avoid the "Three Cs" to minimize human-to-human contact in response to the spread of the new coronavirus.
●Message from Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa
Based on the concept of "fusion of sound, light, and images with living things," the museum has been creating new entertainment and delivering it to the market in a variety of ways, including exhibits and performances that allow visitors to enjoy the marine world in an experiential way, and AI illustrated book applications to introduce the "charm of living things".
We agree with MoriX's goal of enriching people's lives with new technology, and are pleased to participate in this demonstration test.
While challenging ourselves in various ways, we aim to grow as "the most advanced entertainment facility in Tokyo".

■ Morix Product Overview
MoriX provides fingerprint authentication solutions for a wide range of applications, such as credit cards and other financial cards, access control for offices and facilities, personal authentication for PCs and other digital devices, membership cards and IC tickets for music and entertainment events, etc., by utilizing its own fingerprint authentication sensors and algorithms.
By placing a finger on the fingerprint sensor on the IC card, the identity of the user is strictly verified, and the fingerprint information cannot be tampered with after it is registered. Since its data is encrypted and recorded in the card, there is no exchange of fingerprint information on the server. Existing IC card readers can be used by updating the authentication software, making it possible to introduce a highly secure authentication system with low investment costs.
The card meets the strict standards for financial cards in terms of authentication accuracy and durability. The authentication time required for settlement is less than one second, the False Rejection Rate (FRR) is less than 3/100, and the False Acceptance Rate (FAR) is less than 1/10,000. The system has already been certified by a major U.S. credit card company for a next-generation credit card with fingerprint authentication, and the company plans to start selling the product in Japan in 2021.
In addition, we are working with a major Japanese entertainment company to use the card as a membership card for fans and a digital ticket for events, which will lead to stricter identification as well as deterring unauthorized resale of tickets. Through these efforts, MoriX aims to sell several million cards, including payment cards, in Japan and overseas by the end of 2021.
